Continuing The Legacy in a Harris Presidency
Defending Democracy and the Rule of Law
Simply by denying Mr. Trump the presidency in 2020 and being themselves, the Biden-Harris team has defended democracy and the rule of law from its greatest threat in our nation’s history — Trump himself. Given that the threat is even more dire in 2024, we need Vice President Harris to be elected president now more than ever.
Vice President Harris knows we must strengthen laws that preserve and foster the health of our democracy.
As a small down-payment, Biden-Harris signed the Electoral Count Reform Act that helps ensure electoral college votes are properly counted and certified by Congress.
But Vice President Harris understands more is needed.
Once elected president, Kamala Harris will fight to pass laws that have the policies contained in the Freedom to Vote Act and the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, such as:

expanding automatic and same-day registration, vote-by-mail, and early voting;

establishing Election Day as a federal holiday;
-
ensuring the right to vote by those who have served their prison sentences;
-
making it a federal crime to hinder, interfere with, or prevent someone from registering to vote or helping someone register;
-
outlining criteria for congressional redistricting;
-
restoring protections for minorities gutted by conservatives on the Supreme Court by amending the Voting Rights Act to prevent states from disenfranchising citizens based on discrimination.
Trump, it’s all about him. Elections and democracy are about getting what he wants; they are a means to an end. If they don’t provide him with the power to get what he wants he will trash them and toss them aside. As he did after he lost the 2020 election, he will not concede, a critical part of the health of our democracy. Instead, he will lie. He will steal. He will incite insurrection.
For Vice President Harris, democracy is freedom. There should be no impediments keeping any citizen from exercising the most fundamental of rights, the right to vote to choose those who represent us. For Vice President Harris, it’s all about us, all of us.
Keep Fighting For and Growing the Middle Class
Vice President Harris understands that improving the lives of the Middle Class and lifting people into the Middle Class is all about creating opportunities and enhancing quality of life.
That’s why she will build on the Biden-Harris legacy and continue fighting to:

sustain the Biden-Harris strong record of economic growth and job creation, because a good job helps create opportunities and quality of life;

bring inflation and prices down and wages up;
-
stop companies from straining family budgets through price-gouging and hidden fees;
-
make quality healthcare affordable and accessible;
-
make prescription drugs affordable;
-
achieve paid family and medical leave;
-
make quality childcare affordable, costing no more than 7% of their family’s income;
-
provide children a good start in life by continuing to fight to expand and strengthen the Child Tax Credit to lift children out of poverty;
-
make pre-kindergarten universally available for free;
-
fight to make community college free for everyone;
-
make higher education more affordable;
-
pay for the Middle Class agenda by ensuring the wealthy, corporations, and tax cheats pay their share of taxes.
Make Sure We Care for God's Creation
The climate fight is far from finished. Biden-Harris created a good start. But to keep us on track there’s much more work to be done. As president Kamala Harris will stay the course and have our nation rise to the challenge at the speed and scale necessary, while providing essential leadership internationally — all to give today’s youth and children and their children a better future, to bequeath to them a world they deserve.
Of course, Mr. Trump will slam on the breaks of climate action and put everything in reverse. He’ll dismantle and destroy whatever he can, along with many of the jobs and industries associated with clean energy and climate action — and leave our children a destabilized climate and a more dangerous and deadly world.
Rejecting Extremism on Abortion and Making it Safe, Legal, and Rare
As president Kamala Harris will continue to work to keep abortion safe, legal, and rare, as she has done throughout her political career. Besides using the powers of the presidency, if given a Congress she can work with, Harris will have a law passed to do so.
Mr. Trump will support the aims of the extremists to make criminals of pregnant women, doctors, family, and friends, and forcing women to have miscarriages at home or wait until the heartbeat stops before rendering medical care.
Continue to Diversify the Supreme Court and Judiciary
If given a chance to nominate a Supreme Court Justice, Kamala Harris will once again choose a highly qualified candidate who will add diversity to the Court, as does Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson.
She will continue to do the same throughout the federal judiciary and make the judges of our courts reflect the diversity and strength of America. While Biden-Harris has nominated the most diverse judicial nominees in history, Harris knows that we must finish the job.
Passing Sensible Gun Laws to Protect Innocent Lives
While Biden-Harris ensured the passage of the most comprehensive bipartisan gun legislation in nearly 30 years, the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, Kamala Harris knows there is much left to do, especially in keeping our children safe at school. That’s our most fundamental job as parents and adults, to keep children safe.
In 2020 Biden-Harris promised to get AR-15s and other assault weapons off the street again and out of our communities. In her Administration Kamala Harris will work hard to fulfill this pledge, along with passing universal background checks, to keep children and other vulnerable groups safe.
Student Debt
Biden-Harris’s original plan under their own authority to forgive at least $10,000 of student debt for those making less than $125,000 was struck down by the Supreme Court. They have found other ways to forgive over $136 billion to various groups.
Kamala Harris knows not everyone he promised to help has benefited. She will continue to work hard to fulfill this promise. The best way to do so is through legislation, but she needs a Congress she can work with to do so.
Keeping Our Country Safe — National Security
Mr. Trump’s erratic, autocratic, destabilizing behavior — like calling on Russia to do “whatever the hell they want” to some of our NATO allies — will make us less safe.
Kamala Harris, in contrast, will continue to lead the free world against tyranny, criminal aggression like Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and terrorism by groups like Hamas and ISIS. By upholding democracy and the rule of law both here and around the world, Harris will make us safer and the world a more stable place, which helps keep our military out of harm’s way and the flow of commerce more secure.
Mr. Trump’s behavior brings chaos both here and across the globe. Electing Vice President Harris as president assures our allies that the United States can be trusted to live up to its ideals and commitments, making us stronger together against the threats to freedom. For Mr. Trump, it’s all about him. For Kamala Harris, it’s all about us, making us safer and more prosperous.
