Evangelicals For Biden Response to Assassination Attempt

We at Evangelicals For Biden 2024 agree with President Biden’s first words about the attempted assassination of former president Trump:

There is no place in America for this kind of violence. ...It’s one of the reasons why we have to unite this country.  We cannot allow for this to be happening.  We cannot be like this.  We cannot condone this. ... The idea that there’s political violence or violence in America like this is just unheard of. ... And we — everybody — everybody must condemn it.  Everybody.

In an Oval Office address to the nation, President Biden said:

“We debate and disagree.  We compare and contrast the character of the candidates, the records, the issues, the agenda, the vision for America, but in America, we resolve our differences at the ballot box.”

Biden responds to Donald Trump assassination attempt, from the Oval Office

Those of us who confess the Prince of Peace to be our LORD must condemn all political violence.  As citizens we strongly proclaim it has no place in a representative democracy like we have in the United States.

We have deep divisions in our country.  But we all must unite in the defense of our democracy and the rule of law.

And Christians and all those who pray must do so:

  • Pray for peace and the absence of violence;

  • Pray for our country, that we an find common ground and respect our differences

  • Pray for the family of those killed and wounded in this attack;

  • Pray for anyone thinking of violence that the LORD would fill their hearts with His love so they would repent of such thoughts, and;

  • Pray for former president Trump’s full recovery, and for his and President Biden’s safety going forward.
